Visiting construction sites with his dad as a child, Scot enjoyed seeing the progression of building a house from start to finish. At age 20, he entered the field as a laborer and worked his way up learning how to frame homes and all aspects of finish carpentry. Shortly after getting married in 1992 and moving to Columbia, South Carolina, Scot went to work for a commercial contractor where he spent over 25 years as a superintendent and overseeing business development. With a wealth of knowledge and over 35 years of industry experience, Scot joined the Clifton Construction team in 2023. Scot and his wife greatly enjoy spending time with their three grown children.

Educational Background

Steve holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Auburn University. This foundational education has guided his professional journey.

Professional Experience

Steve began his career at Construction Management Services in Hilton Head, South Carolina, initially working in estimating and purchasing. Recognized for his abilities, he quickly rose to the position of Superintendent, overseeing subcontractors and material suppliers. He then moved to Austin Construction and Development Company, where he climbed the ranks from Superintendent to Project Manager and eventually to Vice President of the Commercial Construction Division. Here, he managed projects ranging from renovations to new constructions, in both residential and commercial sectors. During his tenure, the company’s annual volume grew to over $16 million.

Key Achievements

Steve took a leap of faith in June 1986 to start his own construction business in Augusta, Georgia. Building on Christian principles, integrity, and hard work, he has sustained and grown his business for over 20 years, largely through client referrals.
